FRAMING OF PAINTINGS, POSTERS, PHOTOGRAPHS AND ARTIFACTS:

Hi People, as you can see we have developed yet another post which we decided would be of interest to our regulars as well as all the newbies that we hope will visit. This post is about framing primarily and some of the types of framing that we do here at Alain's Panoramics. So let's start with a few samples.

We will start with this beautifully repaired old photograph of a happily married couple. This photograph has been digitally restored and framed under glass with a triple mat board, the frame is called Italian veneered charcoal. Really classy. This photograph can also be printed with the impression of a double or even triple mat effect which can be covered with a UV film and does not need glass when framed.

This as you can see is a different type of framing job it has three pictures in the same frame. Not only that but Alain has been able to produce a special effects background mat to go behind the photographs which depicts the same characters as we have in the actual photographs themselves. This type of effect is what makes our framing special and we can do the same thing for you – you don't have to be a TV star.

I think this is a very special effect for a frame. The frame itself has been made from Fence Palings to have this wonderful result. The art work itself is a paper Tole. The finished frame is called a shadow box, which in this case is shallower than normal.

If you would like something like this done for one or more of your pieces of artwork. You will have to supply the Fence Palings as we do not stock this as a normal frame and we will prepare the wood for the frame..

This as you can see is your classic sporting memorabilia, again in a shadow box, however this one is much deeper.

At Alain's Panoramics we do not staple or glue any of the items to the mat board they are hand stitched to preserve the article in case at some time in the future you wish to reframe. Not only that but the shadow box itself is built is such a way that you can easily reopen for whatever reason could be for a damaged glass or to clean the glass.

Here we have Military Memorabilia again in a shadow box as you can see these can be custom made to suit each piece of art work.

The blank squares are for specific information regarding each medal as well as the photograph in the box

Our final item for this page at this time is another small shadow box which contains in this instance sharks teeth spear heads from one of the pacific islands. It just goes to show that almost anything can be framed and made into a spectacular piece of art work.

Pictures With Borders!

What does this mean? Because of the advanced technology available to us here at Alains Panoramics we are able to provide you with "borders" when you order your canvas prints from us. This gives the impression that you have a matt board effect and as it is on canvas it negates the need not only for matt board but also for glass. How often have you had the glass break during a move and when that happens you not only have the inconvenience of having to get it fixed but sometimes during the breaking event the glass often damages the print or photograph or even painting. Here are a couple of examples.

Love the pallet fencing look? I do.

As you can see it suits quite a few photographs. Keep scrolling and you will find a number of other border designs that might just take your fancy. The next one has green foliage on the border just for that little bit of difference which makes our work stand out from the others. I am sure that people will start to copy the style soon but at least you can say that you saw it here first.

We also have borders that can pick up the colours within the photograph such as the ones that follow.

As you can see the lilac surround picks up the night time colour of the sand and jetty.

This one picks up the glorious shades of the sunset. Also you have the extra addition of the butterfly in the corner with yet another photograph within the wings. Sensational! We also have plain borders for those amongst us that have more conventional taste.

As you can see these are all ready to frame. No need for glass or matt board and "et voila" it is complete.

Photographic Montage On Canvas.

We often get asked to put together a photographic montage so we decided that we would ask one of our clients if they would mind if we included their Golden Wedding Anniversary canvas montage on our web site just to show you our clients what we mean by a photographic montage.

Many people call them collages however that is not quite correct. A collage is a collection of items such as material feathers sticks etc. placed together on a board or even a canvas which depicts art. Believe me it sometimes looks really wonderful but what we do are montages which is a collection of photographs put together, hopefully in an equally artistic way.

You saw what Alain did with the Grand Hotel in Melbourne. Well what follows is another version but an anniversary event for a wonderful family. Their Golden. These days there are very few of those around so congrats and enjoy.

If you look closely you will be able to see how the photographs go around the corners and continue toward the back so there are no ugly edges and all you see are photographs and graphics all round.

We can do this for you with any event. Christenings are particularly popular as are weddings where we soften the edges so you can have all your guests or at least the ones that you want on one wonderful montage a beautiful memory of your special day.

Graduations Weddings Sports Carnivals

Birthdays High School Proms 80th Birthdays etc.

Anniversaries Schoolies week Holidays

Twenty firsts First Birthdays From Baby to Bride

The list is really infinite and entirely up to you.

Call us NOW or email

PHONE: 07 3408 8548

EMAIL: alain@alainspanoramics.com.au

VISIT: Unit 3/17 Armitage Street Bribie Island 4507

POST: P.O. Box 523 Bribie Island Qld. 4507

What comes next is I think quite wonderful let's see what you think. It is a different kind of montage and if you look carefully you will see all types of images within. This particular photograph is on a flat canvas which is ready to be placed in a frame of our customers choosing. As you can see the edges are not wide enough to be stretched.

This I find really interesting. Not only do you have the butterflies which in themselves are wonderful but within the butterflies you also have images of Bribie Island where Alain lives and a very small photograph of the artist himself which we have included for the site. If we were doing this for a client we would not include him in the frame. Then of course you have the very unusual edges of the canvas itself which has green foliage to add that little extra something to the photograph.

So again…….enjoy and tell your friends about our site.

Hi Guys,
We have been thinking about all the ways that photographs can be damaged. For instance, left in direct or indirect sunlight which means UV light. It can often cause photographs to become milky and lose their original colour. You may have even thrown them out because you thought that they were past help but you were wrong, so take another look at those milky photographs and bring them to us. Because here at Alain’s Panoramics we have the technology to scan through to the original colour and print off a photograph that you probably haven’t seen in its original state for years. We can also enlarge it and print it on photo paper or canvas.

Then we have something called “Foxing”. What’s Foxing? All those little brown spots that appear all over your photograph. This is caused by the photograph being exposed, at some time to acid. Yes I know you would never think about acid but if you remember back to when you bought that photo frame, when you put the photo into it, it just sort of moved about, so you got some cardboard and put that it and it did the job the photograph didn’t move anymore. What you didn’t know is that cardboard is full of acid, it won’t damage us but it will, over time damage your precious photographs. Again don’t throw that photo away because Alain can scan the photograph and digitally fix all the damage and give you a new print of a priceless memory Just like the following photograph.

You can also notice that the colour of the new repair is now slightly sepia and looks absolutely wonderful.

You can also transfer acid from your fingers human acid is just as damaging as acid from cardboard or other products, in fact any product made from wood pulp. So when you hold your precious memories in your hand try to just hold those corners or maybe even wear gloves. But definitely do not allow the children with their sticky fingers anywhere near the photographs that you treasure the most.

So when in doubt give us a call or email a copy of the photo to us, (Largest file possible please) and Alain will soon let you know what can be done. You can email him on:
